First, layer the two lids as shown...
By the way, have you tried the Oikos yogurt with caramel?????? OH. MY. Goodness. Heaven! Now, where was I? Oh, yes....The two lids should form a lemon shape, as shown below.
Place the lids under a piece of white paper, and invite your child to make crayon rubbings with a yellow crayon. I used masking tape to help Clara keep the paper in place.
Ta-Da!!
Persuade your big sister to join you -- this shouldn't be too hard if your big sister is like Emily.
Both of the girls were so happy these drawings looked so much like real lemons!
For a more finished look, outline your lemon with a black crayon.
I love the face Emily added to her lemon! She glued her picture to a piece of yellow construction paper, and made a neat card to mail off to Grandma!
Have fun!!

Oh! They do look like lemons :) And, no I have not tried that yogurt - now I'll have to search all of Montana for some!
So cute it makes me want to pucker!
Awesome idea! I would never have thought of that. The girls sure look like they are having a blast with it.
Wow! That is way too cute.
Oh Valerie! I'm so excited about you trip! I cant wait to follow all the fun on twitter!
Check your credit
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Oikos Greek yogurt with caramel. So delicious. I like to add a little chopped apple and some walnuts to it! YUM!
I'm so happy that you are going and can't wait to hear about it. I might have to actually log in to my Twitter account. (I seem to enjoy FB more.)
Those came out so cute. Love all of your ideas.
Dear Valerie,
How soon until you make the U2 PopMart Lemon?
Love,
Mark
How on earth do you come up with these great ideas?!
Pretty creative!!
@ An Almost Unschooling Mom -- Oh, you simply must find it!!! And don't be fooled, the chocolate is not nearly as good as the caramel.
@ Wonder Mom -- I have several photos of Clara making a pucker face while doing this, cracks me up!
@ Kathryn -- Thank you!! I think they had a little too much fun.... lots of giggling going on here. :-)
@ Abigail -- Thank you so much!! I'm soooo excited and I've started packing my bags already. Can't wait!
@ Christy -- Oh. My!!!!!!! I think you just blew my mind. Seriously, that combination sounds dangerously good. And I happen to have all of those things here now. Okay, I'm off to give it a try RIGHT NOW!
@ Rebecca -- I think that is a topic for a whole other blog!! The short version is that I carry a secret idea notebook with me all the time, and Emily and I keep inspiration wires for new ideas. The problem is that I have my best ideas when I literally don't have a hand free to write (ie changing a diaper, in the shower, driving...) It's such a challenge! I need a waterproof tape recorder.
I love this!
cute! last summer, we had our lemonade stand and my penpal made us the sign using a similar technique--but she put the paper on top of a grater and then did the crayon rubbing so that the lemon looked "bumpy" in the end. then she cut the lemon shape! your method looks safer for little hands!
You are right - the chocolate is not nearly as good as the caramel.
Maybe you should keep some of those bathtub crayons in the shower so you can write down your ideas on the shower wall!
I love it!!!You are so creative!!
Very cute! Hope you have a blast on your trip!
@ Danita -- That sounds so cute!!
@ Christy -- Indeed I keep bathtub crayons in the shower for that very purpose. Mark gets a kick out of my diagrams, and sometimes I leave him little love notes. :-)
Super cute and clever!
That is so cute... I'm still stunned out how much Clara has grown. She's so beautiful. Such a cute picture of the sisters sharing their creative moment. You got me to thinking about how Amareah and Anna are interacting now that Anna has gotten a little more mature. Caught up, you know?
Have fun on the trip. I can't wait to hear more about it. I don't think I've tried that brand of yogurt at all. Yes, I know, terrible. :-)
Great idea, although it's really not as enticing until the face on! Then the level of cuteness goes through the roof!
I didn't know Oikos was a Stoneyfield product. Oikos yogurts taste great, but just don't peek at the fat content! It's as high as your project is cute!
Have a great trip! I can't wait to hear all about it! :)
@ Mama Randa Morning Glory -- They have 0% fat. Too good to be true, I know!!
@ Heidi -- Thank you so much!! :-)
Goodness I can't believe how you can turn ANYTHING into something fun! Incredible idea and so fabulous that you can look at a yogurt lid and see a lemon. You are so creative and I am so glad you share with us☺
PS: SO excited you are going on the tour!
oh!! so cute kid and so smart. I like this intelligent child.
