Emily and I had LOTS of fun on The 10! Show in Philadelphia this morning! We brought some easy crafts the kids can enjoy on a rainy day. You can view the clip of our segment below!
I can't believe this is already our 300th post! This morning Emily and I made an appearance on The 10! Show to talk about ways to encourage pretend play with your kids using items you already have at home. As usual, the crew spoiled the bejesus out of Emily. Can you tell she had about 3 donuts in the green room prior to our segment?
In case you missed today's show, here is the clip.
I never thought I would be able to sew these cute baby booties, but this was my very first try and I'm quite pleased with how they turned out! If you would like to make your own, I highly recommend you follow the detailed directions and pattern found here. It seemed a bit intimidating at first, but I just took it one step at a time. Turning just $0.40 worth of felt, and some ribbon scraps into such cuteness seemed like magic to me. What a fabulous (and very inexpensive) handmade baby gift!
This pair is being sent to my blogging friend, MaryAnne from Thrifty Craft Mama. As many of you know, MaryAnne is expecting a baby girl this July. Congratulations, MaryAnne, and bests wishes for the little one!
In other news, I will be offline all next week and without internet access -- GASP! But fear not, loyal reader, for I have scheduled several new and exciting posts to go out during the week. Hey, just because I am going through internet withdrawl, doesn't mean you have to. I'm scheduled to return back online Monday, June 15th (when I am also scheduled to appear on NBC's The 10! Show to demonstrate frugal paper crafts for kids)!
There are lots of money saving tips, craft, and activity ideas ahead. You won't want to miss it. If you haven't already subscribed to the feed in a reader or by email, now would be a great time to do so. See you next week!
Emily and I were very excited to do another segment for NBC's 10 Show about green activities for kids. Here are links to the activities we mentioned on today's show:

We hope you enjoyed today's show! Do you have another green activity for kids that I forgot to mention? Leave us a comment and share your ideas with us!
As mentioned in an earlier post, we were recently featured on Newswatch 16 for a segment called "Power to Save" which is all about saving money, saving the environment, energy, resources, etc. I have posted about our Invention Kit before and mentioned it briefly during NBC's 10 Show, but this segment goes into detail about some of the ways we have put our recyclables to good use. Emily loved playing table hockey with Kelly McCool!
Happy President's Day! Emily and I had an exciting morning over at The 10! Show's studio in Philadelphia to talk about frugal family activities for winter. They featured several of the crafts and activities I have posted about on this blog. In case you missed the show, here is a clip of our segment.
A few things: 1. Lori Wilson, Bill Henley, and the entire crew from the show are awesome. 2. Emily had so much fun in the indoor sandbox, but she reluctantly agreed to get out if we set it up again at home later tonight. 3. Please give me your best ideas for ways to use up all this (played with) oatmeal!
Also, I forgot to mention this during the segment, but I realized later that I no longer buy cardboard. Thanks to the Invention Kit, all the cardboard we use comes from empty cereal boxes.
