Here is how we spent our $5 today....
We made homemade bubble solution! I picked up a bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid on sale for 99 cents, and I had a coupon for 25 cents (which was doubled), so this cost just 49 cents! Mix 1/2 cup of dishwashing soap with 2 cups of water, and a few tablespoons of light corn syrup, and you have a fabulous bubble solution!
I bent a wire hanger to make a large bubble blower. We found some wire hangers in the closet after we moved, so this was free.
After being outside for a bit, we made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I am not much of a baker, but the pre-made mixes make this a lot easier.
I found this one at Big Lots for just $1. The box says it makes 16 cookies, and for once I found that to be accurate.
Now we are off to play outside for a bit more with our sidewalk chalk (mentioned in this post), I paid just 39 cents for the box!
Here's the recap of how we spent our entertainment money:
Dawn dishwashing soap -- $0.49
Cookie Mix -- $1.00
Chalk -- $0.39
Chalk -- $0.39
Light Corn Syrup -- $2.39
Total Spent = $4.27

Looks like you had a great day! I like the idea for the home-made bubble solutions and wand. Will have to try that out.
What a fun day! We'll be trying the homemade bubbles soon (I still think it's too cold to do anything remotely WET outside!).
I LOVE Big Lots - I start my grocery shopping there each week because you can get things for half or less there! Yay for Big Lots!
I just found you via a comment from my blog. LOVE this concept. I am always stumped on fun family activities that don;t break the bank. I just signed up for your rss feeds.
@ Ivy -- Thanks so much! I was surprised how big the bubbles turned out. If you try it with your kids, I would love to hear about it.
@ april -- I usually start my grocery shopping at Big Lots too. Especially for things like cereal, crackers, pasta, and jarred tomato sauce. Oh, and olive oil!
@ Nicole -- So happy to hear you will be joining us on the feed. Now you won't miss any updates! This new series will be challenging, but I think it will prove to be a lot of fun!
Add me to the Big Lots fan club!! I've bought undies, curtains, food, and loads of other stuff there. I just can't get over the price difference! Your day looked lovely! And warm!...we are still way too chilly here!! Looking forward to frugal beach days!!
Shalom!
I love the idea of the Frugal Friday.

I would love it,if you would share your frugal craft ideas on my Showcase Saturday!!!
Tried the home made bubble solution today. Instead of corn syrup, I used glycerin. The kids loved them. Thanks!
I will definitely be following this series!! Thanks!! :)
Ok, once again I have to thank you for the bubble recipe! I made them again today and the kids are having a great time with them and the sprinkler and a neighbor with a water squirter.
