Earth Day Giveaway -- Target Reusable Shopping Bag

In honor of Earth Day, we are having a special giveaway on Frugal Family Fun Blog! If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you probably know that I am a huge fan of Target. I am not affiliated with Target in any way -- at least, not yet..... (hint, hint, Target people). However, their reusable shopping bags are my favorite for two reasons: 1. They are so stinkin' cute!! and 2. They fold up so nicely (see above).

I have had mine for a long time now, and they hold up quite well. Mine still look like new! I always get compliments on them, and I'm sure you will too.

Here's how it looks opened up:

To enter for a chance to win, leave a comment with your best "green" tip on this post (be sure to include your email address). Winning entry will be chosen using random.org, and winner will be notified via email. This giveaway ends Wednesday, April 29th at 6pm EST.

Good luck, and remember to use reusable shopping bags for all shopping, not just groceries!

I love giving old materials (jars, boxes, packing materials, plastic lids...) new life in our craft projects. We love Target too! My oldest will say T for Target when going through her alphabet.

Yeah -- Target! We've started using cloth napkins instead of paper ones. We've found old ones that belong to our grandparents and decided to let them be used -- stained even -- rather than molder away in a box. We're also starting an organic veggie garden.

That is a cute bag! =)

We never throw away butter tubs. We use them to hold flour, sugar, coffee, tea bags...anything!

I love using sites like freecycle.com and craigslist.com to give away items that are still useable to people who could use it. I've given away plastic yard chairs, old bikes, clothes, shoes, and kitchen pans that I am no longer using.

Also, I bring my magazines to any woman who I think might enjoy them.

I am obsessed with turning the light off when we leave the rooms. A few months ago, while we were having a dinner my then 3 year old jumped out of his dining chair and rushed to turn the dimmed lights off in our living room.
We also set our heat in a winter a few degrees lower and just wear sweaters inside.
I shop at garage sales for the kids' clothes, craft items and even some furniture.

I reuse the plastic bags from cold cuts. Of course I wash them and hang them out to dry I reuse them to store my children's wet clothes in the summer. Keep in car as a garbage bag, snacks, freezer bags. pick up poop and so much more. I hardly ever buy sandwich bags.

I make all my own household cleaners- including laundry soap! Here's my all purpose household cleaner. Works great on mirrors, and in the kitchen or the bathroom! Floors too!

(using an old spray bottle)
Fill 2/3 full with vinegar
About a tablespoon of lemon juice
Several drops (maybe 20 each) of TeaTreeOil and Lavender Oil
Fill to the top with hot water. Shake, and voila!

If you need a bit more extra scrubbing power, spray the area with your solution, sprinkle with baking soda, let sit for a few minutes, then come back and wipe clean with a bit more of the solution.

We reuse a lot of our containers for crafts or learning tools and also as containers for other things like paper clips and pencils.

I have been teaching my five year old the importance of recycling, she now helps me seperate recyclables instead of just throwing everything away.

We try to keep our waste to a minimum, I reuse as much of stuff as I can.

Oooh, those bags are cute! Target doesn't have stores in Canada, but whenever we visit the States we go there - they have such neat stuff, and cute inexpensive clothes!

Like Ivy, we started using cloth napkins last year, and it's reduced our waste SO much! Now we even automatically reach for towels or other cloths to wipe up spills (which works so much better anyways!).

We also use cloth wipes (baby facecloths) instead of baby wipes when we're changing our daughter's diapers. They clean so much better, and it really reduces our diaper-related garbage. I'll admit we still use wipes occasionally for REALLY messy diapers though! ;)

my husband and I have decided to use our bicycles instead of the car when we go on our small errands around our neighborhood.

free gas :) and good exercise.

I have started reusing all kinds of containers for craft projects. I, too, love the Target bags.

We love Target as well. We do several things to "go green". We recycle everything we can, I try and keep the lights off and the curtains open, we use CFL bulbs, I use reusable bags at the grocery stores. I would really like to try cloth diapering, but havent tried yet.

My best tip!

Don't leave your shopping bags at home hanging on the hook by the door! Store them in the trunk of your car that way you're always ready!

Shawna said...

My green tip is make sure you recycle! Very little goes in our actual trash bin, but our recycle bin is always full. We even grab our friends' recycling instead of letting them throw it away sometimes!

thanks for the great giveaway!

I've started catching the water that comes out of the shower sprayer, while waiting for the warm water to show up. Then that cold water gets used instead of going down the drain. It can be used for different tasks, ex. water plants or add to a load of wash.

We have a local site with free classifieds that I just love to use when I need something for our new house or my little girl. Why buy new when used and cheap will work just as well?!

Hmmm... best green tip for us... I'd say using Freecycle. It's great to recycle but even better to reuse and there are people who collect everything from glass jars to old magazines. Freecycle keeps so much out of the landfills too, and we've gotten some pretty neat stuff ourselves. :)

I love those bags. I have the ones that fold like a wallet and already have 4 :D

I had never before saved boxes. As soon as I emptied them, I threw them out. For the last three months, I have been saving them and have been able to make really nice projects with my daughters either just for fun or for school projects

Nice bags! My green tip is to reuse everything you can in ways that help save money as well as cut down on waste. For example, I use jars and containers, such as CoolWhip containers, for things like storing leftovers or things like nails and buttons. Thanks for this giveaway.

My best green tip is that I try to find a new purpose for anything I might otherwise throw away. For example, saving empty food containers for my son to play with. I even save milk jug lids for him to play with and practice sorting and learning colors. Sometimes before our cardboard boxes end up in the recycling bin, I will tape them shut and use them in our pretend store/kitchen.

I also buy almost all of my son's clothes/toys/books second hand!

We love to recycle random items to make crafts. Our favorite is to make bird feeders with pinecones and birdseed.

I bring my own bags when I go shopping and I use organic cleaners.

Great - I don't have a Target near me and I missed out on this at their stores!

My thing is water conservation. Whenever there's a shortage, the news is full of recommendations on how to cut back on use. I think the most useful one I've adopted as a permanent habit is turning off the water while brushing my teeth. So, while far from original, I reckon I'm showing my appreciation for living in a city-state-country with great tap water by not abusing it.

This is very simple and you can do it several times a day to save water. Simply turn off your faucet while brushing your teeth and it literally saves gallons of water a day. Greetz, Katrien
