Animal Hospital

Oh, our poor stuffed animals have been feeling quite unwell this afternoon, and several required hours at the hospital. Fortunately, Dr. Emily is an excellent doctor and she made them all feel better!

Once I gathered up some supplies from around the house, Emily became immersed in her own imaginary world. We used one of Mark's old dress shirts for a lab coat, a play doctor's kit, some stuffed animals, some bandages, a flashlight, a pill bottle filled with dried beans, some pillows, and blankets. Emily loved using a small notepad and pencil for prescriptions.

My kids never seem to want to play like this on their own. I love how intent she looks.

@ Ivy -- I wasn't sure if she would be all that into it, but it seemed like she loved the real bandages (that came from the dollar store), and pretty soon she was busy writing prescriptions, giving medicine, checking heartbeats, etc. One elephant had a bad cough, so she gave him more bandages. Lol The treatment didn't always fit quite right, but it was cute!

So cute! I love the lab coat too! Good thinking Mama!

My girls like playing this too. Their 'cures' crack me up. "Polka Dot Baby is sick. She needs to go to bed and eat a big bowl of candy." Sure. That should help. :)

My daughter might enjoy this. As we speak she's playing "Animal Shelter" again with my best friend. We bought her a toy bag/carrier today so she'd stop lugging our big real one through the house with her stuffed cats in it.

@ Michie -- Animal Shelter...that is so cute! I love what kids come up with. They just turn everything into a game, don't they?
