Time Warp

We have entered the time warp that is Grandma and Papock's house, where the girls are enjoying all the wonderful toys Mark used to play with when he was a kid. Don't you just love that they saved this stuff? It's a real trip down memory lane, I tell you.

I couldn't help but smile when I saw the girls playing with this Sesame Street play set. These toys were built to last! Almost makes me want to order one of these!

Dear Valerie,

Those toys were made in the 70s, and most would not pass safety standards today. Of course, this means that they are fun. I made it out as a healthy normal person. Right?

I don't like this silence.

Love,
Mark

Why did I hear crickets chirping when I read the above comment? Hmm. :>)

Crap - I honest to goodness saw one of those phones at the rummage sale two weeks ago for a quarter. And now that I type that, I ask myself WHY didn't I pick it up anyway and toss it on ebay at least??? Ah, well, next time.

My mom saved all of our little people (along with many other cool toys). She has the sesame street, farm and a ranch style house. My kids love playing with them when they visit.

I love those old little people. But Mark is right they probably wouldn't pass as safe anymore.....Case in point, Mark. ;-)

@ Mark -- Remember playing with those shards of broken glass when you were a kid? Man, those were some good times.

@ Lenetta -- Are you serious? How did you resist? You must have exercised great restraint. I'm such a sucker for those kinds of things.

@ Whimsical Creations -- Your mom rocks! I had a very extensive My Little Pony collection when I was little, but it's all gone now. So sad!

I had that Sesame Street set when I was a kid. I wish I still had it. I don't have any of my old toys.

My little sister used to suck on the bald heads of our little people so much so that their little lifeless expressions would be worn away. She also liked to chew on Barbie feet now that I think about it. i could never get the shoes on after she made her way through my Barbie stash.

I guess she turned out OK... But was she ever OK to begin with... Hmmm.

@ Christy -- My parents kept a few of my toys from when I was little, one of which was a rock tumbler which is freakin' LOUD!! Mark's collection is far better than mine.

@ Mama King -- Hahaha! I never knew Barbie feet were so tasty.

I love the little house & people. What were the called? They kind of like the weeble wobbles.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

That is so neat! I wish we had some of the things from when we were little. I might have to get that phone for my youngest DD.

My parents have a Seasame Street St and my MIL has a castle that ER loves to play with. It's fun to see her with it when I've seen pictures of Brad playing with it oh so many years ago. Love those one piece bodies too☺

Ahhh... but would your daughters know that was a phone? I doubt my son would. lol!

I miss my little stove where you turned the knob and the burner turned red. Remember those? I have two nice WOOD ones. And I keep thinking I need to get one of those old plastic things. Sigh. Nostalgia is such a strange thing.

Love Val

I bought a second hand Sesame Street Playhouse and Apartment for C for Christmas. I'm even making bedding for Ernie & Bert's beds. She's going to love it! :)

That's not just A Sesame Street set. That's the Sesame Street Little People set that my sister had growing up. *sigh*

But yes, some of the "these are not available anymore" is cause of the laws that have been passed in the meantime.
