Sunday Snapshot -- All Dressed Up (Sort of)

Almost a year ago, I had found these beautiful holiday dresses for both of the girls at our local thrift store. The girls wore them to my parents' house for Christmas dinner, until my brother gifted Clara with an adorable monkey bathrobe and sock-monkey slippers. She LOVES them. The minute she saw them, she made it quite clear that she wanted to try them on. And while you can't see it in any of our holiday photos, I swear she is wearing a cute holiday dress under that robe!!

I thought she would wear them for a few minutes, then take them off. But noooooooo! She's been wearing that robe for about 3 straight days, and cries like you're ripping her arm off if you threaten to change her into anything else. The only reasons it has come off were for a few minutes yesterday (she had an apron on so she could paint), for baths, and for sleeping. In the morning, the robe goes right back on!

I haven't done it yet, but I'm considering taking her to the grocery store with it on. It's either that, or deal with incessant screaming in protest.

Hey, you pick your battles.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about your dresses - very cute and well matched!

My mantra lately - "is this the hill I want to die on?" But one thing I will not accept that has been popping up lately - when she asks for something, is told no, and then insists on doing it RIGHT NOW! That isn't going over well...

So cute! Go for it -- I'd go grocery shopping in my robe if I could get away with it.

How sweet is she?! I hope her uncle knows how much she loves it. And you are completely right -- pick your battles -- and this one isn't worth a fight.

So cute! I'm definitely for letting her wear it grocery shopping - she's adorable in it and it looks like it would keep her quite warm even :)

Your little ones are adorable!

That is too funny about the little one and the robe - my son was like that with a Batman footed blanket sleeper and he did end up wearing it everywhere for about 2 weeks and decided on his own to just wear it to bed. Probably a lot depends on what activities you have coming up whether or not you could let the robe go the course with your daughter.

So cute! I'd let her go shopping with the robe on. I put out our recycling this morning, while wearing my pjs and robe. Only to find the street cleaner and an elderly man having a chat on the pavement outside my house. They chatted on while I stuck piles of stuff out then both gave me the biggest smiles and said "good morning!" So I've come to the conclusion that robes are fine for public wear!

She's so cute in her new robe. I guess as long as she's warm. Maybe people will just think she isn't feeling well and you wanted her to be comfortable. But, I think you're right, pick the battles.
