Who Needs Toys....

Who needs toys....

... when you can have Mommy's purse? Seriously, what is with her obsession with my forbidden purse of mystery? [Note -- I love how she dug through all of that just to get to the coveted lip gloss.]

Dear Valerie,

She was just helping you to remove all of those expired coupons.

Love,
Mark

Luckily, she's still young enough that you'll get all of that money back from her ;)

Isn't that the truth - you buy the kids a toy & they play w/ the box! :) Very cute!

Valerie,

I used to have Mommy's Purse specifically for the kids. It had a little bit of money, old or expired credit cards, old car keys, chapstick and other things that were normally found in my bag. This way they could rummage and I would not worry about losing anything!

So cute. My daughter always loved to get into my purse, or anyone else's purse.

@ Entertaining Mom -- You are brilliant! I'll give it a go, thanks!

My daughter used to do this all the time until my credit card went missing and I started hiding my purse from her! Like EntertainingMom, I now have a bin with a few old wallets and purses filled with old cards, fake lipgloss and fake money. She loves playing with them and my real things stay safe!

How cute is she?! I think mom needs a better hiding place and I love EntertainingMom's idea.

My purse gets put up where she can't get it when we're home, but I didn catch my daughter in Grandma's purse with a fist full of dollar bills one night. It was cute, but I did make her give the money back. Now Grandma makes sure her purse is up too.

My daughter does also have a few of my old purses and empty gift cards and such to play with. She loves them.

This is going to sound insane, but one time one of my cats got to my purse, dug through it, and pulled some dollar bills. I told her if she needed an allowance, we needed to discuss her chores. ;-)

@ Amy -- Hahahahhahahahaha!!!

@ Buffie -- Good point, I'll be sure to give Grandma a fair purse-warning!

Sometimes that is the only way I get my pursed/diaper bag cleaned out!

It's the chapstick. Really it is, for my daughter. For my boys, it's whatever random thing they've decided is a toy. Or the toy I took away from them.

LOL, that is funny!

You all have given me a super gift idea for my grand-daughters. I'm going to crochet each a little sun hat with matching handbag and start filling it will goodies (expired credit cards, chap stick lipstick, some Mexican money, etc.) using all those plastic grocery bags I've got stuffed under the kitchen counter. What smart readers you have, Valerie.

It makes a good excuse at the grocery store, when you're digging through, to try to find your checking card, or i.d., and everyone is looking impatient - smile sweetly, and say, "I had this purse completely organized, until my daughter dumped it out, but you know babies!" I use that one all the time. Never mind that my baby is three now :)

My 2 year old daughter can spot "lip stuff" half a room away, buried under 4 inches of junk! What is it with the chapstick!

Ah yes....mommy's purse! The ultimate play toy! It took me DAYS to find my driver's license after Nudgie got into my wallet!!

I used to give my son my wallet in emergencies, and I used that trick often on the trip when we moved cross country when he was 1 year old. Then I didn't have a driver's license for 6 months until I got around to replacing it. :) Now he loves to throw things away, so if we're stuck in a public place, I just sort through my purse and hand him things to run over and drop in the garbage bins. Much more helpful! :)

OMG! Logan did this too... over and over again for about a YEAR! Good luck with that one. I finally had to hang it out of his reach, but every time he got it, it looked like this. I spent two hours waiting at the DOL to get a new license last Feb, only to realize that when my number was called that my old lenience had been swiped by my little purse demolisher! I had to go BACK home, gather up the things from my wallet, and go BACK to the DOL to get my license renewed (which meant I waited in line AGIAN!)

Sigh... and now he is three. I don't know if I would trade it. But she is pretty stinkin cute. ;)

Love Val

She looks so extremely innocent like she's supposed to be in the purse and getting lip gloss. I bought the girls their own lip gloss, but Anna often still peers into my bag and slyly says, "Lip goss" as if she wasn't about to write on all the paper, open everything she can and hide it somewhere. My purse is off limits to the crew. I can actually leave it out in the open now or until Anna decides she wants to mess with me. :)

lol - hilarious!!
C has a thing with going through my drawer in the bathroom. She's fascinated by the makeup, and my bite place (ugh). I have one of those baby drawer locks on it, so thankfully she can only sneak a hand in there when I'm in the bathroom with her (but she's quick!).
