Awww Yeah... Adventures in Cow Milking!

We got up at the butt-crack of dawn to see a milking at The Fournier Farm, owned by Earl and Sue Fournier -- it was so much fun!!

Here I'm taking a few minutes to get familiar with the cow. I asked Earl to pair me up with a nice one, preferably one that wouldn't be likely to poop on me!

I'm totally milking a cow!!!!

Earl's wife, Suzie, took us around the farm. We saw their amazing family garden, and now I'm inspired because I wish our garden looked as nice as theirs!

We also got to see where the calves are kept. This one was especially outgoing, and even let me feed her!

Up next, breakfast with Miss Vermont!!! A visit to a farm in New Boston, plus a short detour to Ben & Jerry's!!

Dear Valerie,

I toured a dairy farm a few times as a child, the one that we used to get our milk from.

One of the calves started to eat my shirt. I was lucky to make it out fully clothed.

I, for one, can't wait to see what comes next on the Frugal Family Farm Blog!

Love,
Mark

That is an impressive garden. It looks like a tremendous amount of work. Now I feel lazy, as well as inept :)

How fun milking a cow! My grandfather was a farmer so I watched him do it all the time. I never really wished to try it myself though. He used a milker and they sometimes tried to kick it off. I don't blame them!

You look like you're having the best time!
