So we broke out the paints and markers.....
..... and spent a good part of the afternoon covering inexpensive coffee filters with bright sweeps of color! If you're in need of some stress relief, I highly recommend doing this -- so relaxing!
There were lots of "oohs and ahhs" when the girls saw how nicely the colors blended on the coffee filters!
I love how vibrant the colors look!
Once they were dry, we cut them up to make birds, and used some window markers for the feet!!
These two are in love.... so cute!
This would be such a FUN classroom project for a window or bulletin board.....
.... and now I can't help but smile every time I open the front door!! *glee*

The end result is really excellent - kind of 70's peace loving birds :) - but very pretty!
stuck on with tape?
Maybe that's what I'll do for my back door.
So pretty. I think we will be doing this soon. Our sliding glass door in the kitchen is looking a bit boring right now.
Much better! Thanks so much for the sweet comment on my blog!
ooo so pretty! Definately brightens things up!!
So I always love your projects but this is one of the greatest! And of course the birds are in love! I have just the window for this! We will link back when we do this. Thanks for more great ideas.
This is such a cute idea! I just really love all your ideas :) I can't wait until my LO is old enough to try these things out!
This is totally adorable!
How do you think of these things!!!???
Love it!
Awww so sweet such colorful birdies
beautiful, love the colors.
Simply beautiful. (And simple, too!)
Beautiful! And how did you stick them on?
@ An Almost Unschooling Mom -- They are kinda groovy, aren't they? LOL
@ Ticia -- I used masking tape for the lines, and tried using it to stick the birds on the window, but it didn't work as well as clear tape.
@ Christy -- I bet they would look so pretty there! If we had a sliding glass door, I'm pretty sure it would be covered with artwork at least 90% of the time. :-)
@ brookie -- Thank you so much! I really appreciate the link! xoxo :-)
@ Candi -- Your little one is ADORABLE! Treasure these days. :-)
@ MaryAnne -- Yes, it seems that clear tape worked well. I used clear tape for the tie dyed sun ornaments we did too. Have fun!
We colored our with markers yesterday..I like your way better! GReat idea!
Cute.
What a cool idea! I'm definitely going to try something like this with my son. How clever that you made the coffee filters into birds.
So "tweet!" (Hee! Hee!)
love it!
Your door looks beautiful :)
Wow - this looks fantastic. I am curious - are those regular poster paints? Our watercolors always look very pale...
FUN:)
takes me straight back to being a kiddie!
LOVE It

Very nifty! Makes me wanna break out the watercolors =)
@ Sherri -- Clara used markers on her coffee filters too, but then painted over them with water. The colors blended so nicely!
@ Raising a Happy Child -- We used watercolors too, but only a little bit of water so the color didn't dilute so much.
@ Kathleen -- That makes me very happy! Have fun!! xoxo :-)
@ Brianna -- Me too!! Ahhh... to be a kid again! :-)
@ Tabitha -- Yes, yes, break them out!! You'll be so glad you did. Have fun! :-)
